tank size issue

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
diy is fun, but will probably not be that cost effective for the sizes you are talking about. 55-75 gallon tanks are pretty cheap tho and you should be able to find one pretty cheap used on craigslist for roughly 100 bucks.

In my opinion, 2 GT's would be much happier in a 6ft tank, like a 125, and you could add a couple other fish. If you can't upgrade I might just think of starting over. It says ur from CNY and there are a couple local fish stores that will buy your fish from you so you can start over, I know one in Jamesville, NY right outside syracuse that will at least give you some store credit. There are tons of smaller fish that will be much happier in a small tank.

oh hey another 315er

yeah im from syracuse actually your talking about fairmount

there is also syracuse aquariums

and i dont know if youve been but you should check out empire aquatics up in fenner near the windmills he has 2 nigerian catfish that are like 3ft long there amazing you can hand feed those guys

as far as the diy goes it may be more cost effective to buy a 55 but it sucks because a 55 wont really fit where i need it to go.

im going to convince the gf to let me either put a 55 in the house somewhere and take up space or my last resort is building the diy under the bar counter from the kitchen to living room.

and as far as starting over i would hate to have to get rid of my gt. the smaller 2 fish isnt such a big deal but my larger one is amazing it would be a sad day to get rid of her for a bunch of tetras or something

not to mention the store credit i will get for her will not even begin to make a nice african tank

i guess i have alot of deciding to do...either that i need to go buy a huge ass house and start a monster tank :P

I think a 55 would be alright for two gts, but it depends on their aggression. Putting two gts that hate each into a 55 would be like the Thunder dome (two will enter, one will remain lol) If your gts get along ok and you keep up on your water changes, you should be alright.

Yea I was talking about Syracuse Aquariums in Jamesville. I know they buy fish from people, I haven't tried selling fish back to the fairmount store. I also don't really like the Fairmount aquariums, mainly just because everything is overpriced. Same food is always a couple bucks cheaper in Jamesville.

I used to live in Kirkville, which was only about 15 minutes from Empire Aquatics so i've been there a few times. The guy is a little crazy and will talk your ear off, but he is great at breeding cichlids.

I only have a 75 gallon tank right now since I'm renting, but hopefully in the next couple years hopefully I can buy a house and build my monster tank!

me and my chick will be hopefully buying a house this year.

worst case scenario if yuo cant buy a house before i do you can come over and help me build the monster tank in my house....

:)

it will be somewhere around may i hope by the time i get a chance to put it in.

great at building but have yet to go over the steps and draw it out. Not to mention i have to find a house and build it to fit.

well have to see what happens.
