your posts are too brief, lack info & you're skipping around on subject matter.
the smell is for General Aquaria section of forum.
The fish Hole in The Head issue is for the Diseases section & needs a bunch of history info & images.
be more thorough & you'll get decent answers.

This is my first post and how am I skipping around I'm talking about one situation and what I noticed afterwards. And this is the general aquaria section

I hurried in my post :-/
meant, if you read in the diseases section:
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...ish-Health-Diagnostics-(Read-before-posting-)

, it tells info needed when asking about sick fish. then people have what is required for informed replies.
people usually do try to answer anyway, but it can take more time to get accurate.
If something is deteriorating a fish quickly, time matters.

best advice i can give is do a water change use prime and hopefuly the smell is gone...

How often do you do water changes?
How often do you clean out the filter?
When you rinse bio media, it is best to clean it in water change water.
You do "not" want to run the bio media under hot chlorinated water?
You can clean the filter box/can and mechanical media under hot, but to retain beneficial bacteria, no.

What kind of foul smell? Is it a fishy smell? Fishy smell usually means a bacteria bloom which would be brought on by shocking your bio system. Do not feed for a few days and start doing daily small water changes, no more than 20% per change. As for the hith, first make sure you do not have any carbon in your system, keep up on regular 3x a week water changes and if possible start dosing with vitachem. Gl

A bio bloom could make sense it's a fishy smell. So no carbon and dose with vitachem

Ive never heard of hole in the head forming that rapidly but burns from ammonia could be the culprit. can you post pics to help id the problem?

agree it doesnt just pop up over night...the main cause is poor water quality
if it is indeed HITH get Tetra parasite gaurd or straight METRONIDAZOLE do a 50% water change before adding the meds(use as they are instructed) and it will be gone within a week or so depending on how bad of a case. It may take longer for any scaring to heal.

Let us be clear on something please.

OP spoke about a foul smell. This is ammonia in my book. ( if it is a fishy smell it may be something else ).

Most proably tank is not conveniently cycled and a large water change with cleaning of bio cartridges has compounded the problem.

So let us get back to basics:

Do not touch your bio media.

If possible get cycled media from a friend or trusted LFS and add it to your system.

Do small, daily wc's. If you do big ones, you will never complete the cycle.

As to HITH, there are several ways to cope with that, but first you need to stabilize the tank.

Is the O feeding? is its poop normal brwon or stringy white poop.
If repply to to both above questions, there is no particular hurry.

Do you have access to Epsom Salt? if you do, do a 3% solution ( half lire of water with a tablespoon of Epsom salt ) and soak the pellets in that solution. Do not drench them. Just let them imbibe for say, 10/ 15 minutes, the solution, and feed. It will start cleaning the fishe's gut of the parasyte.
