he can hit glass hard and easily break a thinned glass heater but no way could he ever get through 1/2" glass. for a while before I sold him I had to keep him temporarily in a tank that was made with 3/8" glass. even that would be hard to imagine him busting through.

so as far as a monster fish come crashing through my living room goes ill be fine.

how about the effect of the water making the tank bow? with 10mm glass?
 
even with 1/2" glass if you go braceless you will get some bowing. older braceless style tanks always bowed a bit even with thick glass.

with 3/8ths unbraced that asking for trouble.

I am no expert but I probably would not use 3/8ths glass on a tank of this height and volume, no matter what bracing you have.

consider posting a question in the DIY forum. there are people there that have built tanks and might be able to help more.
