Tank stand for 450 gallon glass tank- question

If it has no trim, I'd support the bottom evenly. The tanks with trim can be supported on just the edges because the trim prevents the whole bottom from touching the stand anyways. Since yours lacks it, I would definitely support it over the whole bottom.

One option is to put a piece of foam underneath the tank that can compress so there are no high points.

Pictures for you Pharoah... sorry I was remiss.
This is the day after I filled it. There is not yet a lid (hence the net) on it and clearly the stand still needed walls and doors and things. There are 2 cross braces where the vertical posts are visible. I do not have lights under the tank, just piss poor gravel coverage, so the light you see under the tank is simply coming right through from the top.

Now that all is done and the drift wood has had a chance to leach all sorts of yellow into the water. The tank needs a water change tomorrow, it had its last 50% change 6 days ago. My Halloween decorations in the window are reflecting into the tank and it kinda looks like they are in the tank. Funny.

it looks good, but just a side note, i wouldve added crossbraces across the bottom , connecting the front and back together, and having 2x4's connecting all 4x4's to keep from bowing.

im looking to build a stand for a similar sized tank, i had not thought of the fact that glass tanks do not infact sit flush they usually take the pressure at the edge like you posted.

My current 210 7 x 2 x 2 sits the base flush on polystyrene which sits flush on a plywood board and this has held up for 1 year at my house and 7 years at the previous owner.

My next tank would be more than double that size though so id like to get it correct.

What does your tank sit on? does it sit flush on plywood or is the bottom base free floating with supports slightly lower than the tank to make sure they dont touch?

If the tank has plastic trim, then all you need is to support the trim. If it does not have trim, then you need to have some support along the bottom of the tank.
