Tank Stocking?

Your asking for opinions on your guppy tank on MFK

my opinions are all biased toward my own interests, so I recommend some ctenopomas, an african knife fish, some congo tetras and maybe a bichir.

I know.... I was going to do that exact setup you mentioned WEIRD=/

But no one else in my house liked it so I gave in and I was nice =]]
 
BUMP...Juwels are going today and the betta has dissapeared ='[[Any other ideas..Pity the sevs were gorgeous..Should I risk it?
 
I hate seeing big(ish) tanks go to waste on little fish lol CICHLIDS all the way :D

gold sev's and guppys how does that one work then? my gold sev is border 9inch.

I would stock it with 2-3 medium sized cichlids like.....blue acara/severums/firemouth/festivum/jewel/green terror mmmmmm yeah GT's prob to aggressive for most of the other cichlids though
 
40cm (~16") isn't that tall, I would stay away from larger deeper bodied fish like severums and GTs

My GT is a wimp. lol My green Texas is the dominant fish.
 
HEY I would get a gold gourami or two and 8-12 more of some kind of danios. From what I have seen many minnow-like fishes will school with closely related species.

Gold Gourami are really beautiful and get 6 inches. If it is the biggest fish by far it will stand out. Mine got 5 inches in a 20 gallon.

You do kind of need something scary to the shoaling fish to encourage good tight schooling formation. A severum would work, so would maybe a convict or something... IDK it has to be at least slightly territorial or at least large.
 
I got 5 celebes rainbows (2 under an inch =/ and 3 bigger ones)And a kuhlie loach today both exsqusite fish (LOL i said exsqusite :grinno: :grinyes: LOL the tank is 50 HIGH and 40 wide and 120 long =]]The danios and the celebes shoal toghether =/I'm now considering a few discus as they have gone down in price (?) they used to be £25 now they're £15 or £20 =]]
 
BUMP! Any new ideas?I'm looking for something a bit rarer and I don't think I'll get the guppies='[[
