Tank to small?

So what type of water do you have? If it is semi hard then it shouldn't be that hard at all. Honestly here it is actually easier to keep discus with our soft water. IE I only have to do ~50% weekly water change without adding anything but prime for discus, but for tropheus I had to add some salts and other stuff. (They likely would have been fine without them but still I like to keep there parameters as close to real life as possible.)

the bottom under the sand is crushed coral. which has it up at 8.0 other wise my water is about 7.0. but isnt very hard to get it back up just dip some crushed coral in the buckets i will be filling up the tank with.

the only thing i am worried about is the whole bloat thing and the sensitivity to water parameters

bloat is easy to deal with. Only feed say NLS (~ twice a day) and say some brine shrimp once a week. And don't over feed... As for the water parameters I just make it so that it doesn't swing all over the place. IE my water here if I do nothing (ie no shells, etc) will start at 7.0 and drop to 6 in 1 day and over a week fall to ~5... but with buffers it stays at 7.8.

And as for bloat I would say that the only real time you ever have to worry about it assuming you aren't feeding too much protein is whenever you change things, so don't. IE don't keep adding fish once everything is settled, don't just decide to move rocks all over every week and you should be safe.

What about omega one super veggie? it has a protein percentage of 33% with the two main ingredients are whole kelp and spirulina?

and which is a better beginer tropheus? moorii, dubosi, or brichardi?

I never used omega one, some people really like it but eh I have always stuck to what works for me.

As for the best beginner tropheus, I would say just get what one you like... It never made sense to start with some fish you don't really want. I do suggest sticking with 1 species.

Anyways look here for more beginner info: http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/starting_with_tropheus.php

yea i kno everyone likes NLS but in my area it is $20 for a very dmall container. i think i may have settled on the Tropheus sp Bemba Flame.
