IE I only have to do ~50% weekly water change without adding anything but prime for discus, but for tropheus I had to add some salts and other stuff. (They likely would have been fine without them but still I like to keep there parameters as close to real life as possible.)

What about omega one super veggie? it has a protein percentage of 33% with the two main ingredients are whole kelp and spirulina?
and which is a better beginer tropheus? moorii, dubosi, or brichardi?

As for the best beginner tropheus, I would say just get what one you like... It never made sense to start with some fish you don't really want. I do suggest sticking with 1 species.
Anyways look here for more beginner info: http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/starting_with_tropheus.php
