Great rays! His eye seems to be healing. I would add some solar salt 99%+ pure. For water softeners maybe a couple big handfuls (pre dissolved) and keep.up.on the water changes. I had the exact thing happen a fl. gar bit my rays eye during feeding!

Thanks. I am keeping a close eye on him and appears to be getting better with out using salt. I water change twice daily so i know things are good.

I don't think you could get them again if you tried there absolute one offs!

How do you work your mechanical in the sump? The water is crystal clear - a testament to your hard work.

Thanks mate I love them and hopefully will be able to get them again or at least their offspring!
The mechanical is jap mat but to be honest a fair bit of crap still gets through 3 layers. When I designed the sump I added a shelf above water line on the last baffle plate. It's a shelf about 6 inch wide and the width of the sump which is 2.5 feet. On the shelf I have a piece of white foam from a foam pack for koi pond filters. This has the final pass of water flow before being pumped back to main tank. I wash this out once a week.
