Anyone else reading this forum have any input on my idea. Sounds like it will work but only if I put the tank perpendicular to the floor joists and against an outside wall.
One last question for you,Yeah I could do that but the sump for that tank is 18 inches tall so I'll just have to deal with the top of the tank being 6 feet (if I could drill the floor and have the sump in the basement I would)
My 125g tank is parallel to the joists. I'm going to have all my tanks perpendicular to the floor joists when I move, knowing they are stronger that way.
One last question for you,
What would you stock the tank with leaning more towards freshwater because of the hight of the tank.
Thinking more community tank, I have a few 9-10in Bala sharks and 2 adult rope fish that will most likely be in the tank.Tons of freshwater options for that tank. First you'd have to narrow it down a bit. Community tank, single species tank, a few larger predator/monster fish...
I like to hang driftwood and other scaping from the top of my tall tanks. Frees up floor space for grazers and draws more activity to the top. If it was me, I would probably hang a couple branchy pieces of driftwood from the top and put my clown loaches in it...maybe get a couple dozen more loaches too. Can always add more tankmates later.
Those 2x6’s are facing the wrong way and aren’t going to add any support. You should have them on end and doubled up.
I added support beams across. Then used the Jack's underneath them. Jack's help but the beams will add stability. I used the red lines to symbolize the jacks.

Do you see anything wrong with how I planned on supporting my tankThose 2x6’s are facing the wrong way and aren’t going to add any support. You should have them on end and doubled up.
