Tanked ATM

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you guys want to confirm price, there are a few places that do 'large scale custom acrlyic tanks'. Most are going to be as much as ATM or more depending on what you want.
It's not going to be a Petco "Dollar per gallon" kind of price range.

It would be awesome if they did charge a dollar a gallon. You should recommend it next time you work with them.

Haha, that's something they'll never do.
The money they make per gallon on a mega tank is 100 times more than the money they would make investing that same time into something small.

Old post. But. First off, I know basically nothing about saltwater fish care(other than its harder to keep than freshwater). A question. On Tanked. They use something they call live sea water and live sand. Assuming this means it has the bacteria in it. Wouldn't having all required bacteria already in the environment eliminate the need to acclimate the fish to anything other than temperature (which they make a point of doing)? Also. What is that liquid they pour into the tanks when they use tap water(can never read it)? I believe its in a white bottle.

"Live" just means is has the bacteria colong going. It may or may not be a large or stable enough colony to support a fish load.
I'll have to watch closer to see what the 'liquid' is. I know they use a clarifier just before a showing to give it that extra sparkle. If they are treating tap water, I would guess just a basic sodium thiosulfate solution (dechlorinator). Just keep it mind that it's all for TV.

Acclimation is not the biggest reason the fish die, its their what they call "INSTANT" cycling that kills them, you all know, especially Matt, that there is no such thing as instant cycling. cycling a tank takes time, it takes weeks, not hours. sure, the natural seawater and live sand help, but IT DOES NOT MAKE CYCLING INSTANT!!!!

putting live rock into a talk with out a month of cycling kills fish, live rock as soon as it hits air is dieing ... producing ammonia until the tank is stablized

One episode they had given a kid a few bala and redtail sharks in a 20 G and said that the big sharks are too big so we put some fish with shark like names and he said the fish would live fine in the 20G Bala shark 125G likes groups Redtail 55G best kept alone stuffed in a 20G that is absurd.:nilly::banhim::nilly::irked::nilly::nilly::swear::screwy::arapaimag:arapaimag:asianarow:asianarow:stingray::stingray::WTF::WTF::dbz3_4::dbz3_4::dbz3_4::screwy::screwy:

Most of the tanks they do on the show are literally only for businesses/rich profiled people. I called the invoice people and "acted" like I was interested in them making me a tank (I was wanting to see the price) and after calling them, getting turned to this and that I finally got ahold of I guess the guy who makes the orders and basically first question he asked was are you a business and I said no I'm a private keeper and he basically said in basically quote "Thanks for watching the show we currently don't do orders of that sort thanks" >< and also that place they fly to all the time and get their fish from their site says "Email us on pricing" and if you email them they basically say thanks for being a fan of the show but we dont sell to the public :O
