Tanked!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The problem I have with it, other that the cheesyness of the whole thing, is all the tanks are plastic. Not that I'm into SW, but since 95% of what they do is SW, cut out the fake, ugly coral inserts and do a real reef.

The few FW tanks they do so are always African tanks. Nothing wrong with that, but they still end up putting fake chessy inserts in the.

I would like to see them do a huge planted tank with driftwood, and discus, or something along those lines. A huge monster tank with big SA/CA cichlids, rays, and aros would be nice to see too. I would think they problem with them doing that is they are not as popular as the cheesy insert SW tanks the main stream audience wants to see.

id hope thay do maintenance on the tanks after thay install could you imagine how much of a pain in the arsh it would be to clean that phone both tank thay did. omg i wouldn't want to scrap the glass

Yeah I would assume they have to buff scratches, fix leaks, clean tank for dumb dumbs that don't know how. If I owned a pet shop and someone wanted to buy just a "nemo" in a goldfish bowl.. Nope not gonna happen.. I'd then show them a nano or bio cube :)

What really bugged me about that show is the job they did for the church...a tank like that must have cost a few hundred thousand easily, and what pisses me off is that religion preaches generosity and helping the less fortunate. Did the guy running this parish not think that 200k (min), could have been put to better use besides a fish tank? I mean if it was some milionaire etc its one thing, he actually earned his money, but the parish prob used money that it gets from collection plates/ donations ppl give thinking itl be used to help others.....ahh now we know why fewer and fewer ppl believe in God, ignorence=faith

I never watched again after that episode. They're suppose to be matters of what they do, but couldn't figure out to get the air out of that cross. Dumb. And that keg tank was ugly.

You guys crack me up. The whole reason they don't do a massive freshwater monster display is because no one wants to fork over that kind of money for a display like that, especially since most of our monster fish don't come close to matching saltwater fish in color. as hobbyists we are able to grasp and appreciate the beauty of monster predators that goes beyond just gaudy colors. But the uneducated public likes to see bright colors and gaudy decorations.

It would be very cool to see them build a giant freshwater tank with azul and bahia pbass, black diamond and tiger rays, large arowanas, a school of vittatus ATF, some giant endlis...maybe some large colorful cichlids...but only someone like us would be interested in having them do a build like that and very few of us have the finances to make it a reality.

The show is very gimmicky and the drama is all manufactured for TV. All the floating decorations are setups. You know they're not that stupid. Take a look at some of the real tanks they've created. These guys no what they are doing. It just would not be entertaining TV if they were all serious all the time.

Yeah I mean the show has to be entertaining. So would you say that a 500 gal salt tank with salt fish and a fake Reef insert would cost more or less than a 500 gallon CA/SA tank w big aro rays ect.. Yeah the color isn't there but the look and size of the fish could make the difference

I watch the show and actually like it better than fishtank kings. I think its great that the hobby is getting main stream attention, it can only increase interest and keep the hobby strong. They are goofy and whatever but the avg person always prefers the look of a salt water tank then the brutes we look at. I mean could you imagine a tank of L24 and L25 and such. The tank would look emty with everything hiding in a cave!

Wow that last episode was awesome with the 3000 gallon shark tank, had cheesy acting parts but I pay attention to the set ups, very impressive fiberglass with acrylic Windows. Next episode is the giant 5000 gallon koi pond, looks exactly like the one at bass pro but way better, can't wait to see it.

It's nice to have our hobby seen on tv. Even if it is staged and the tanks are mostly salt water. We have to ask ourselves . How much did we like the last aqurium fish show that was on the air? Yes there were no fish shows on tv. So we should enjoy it for what it is. Who knows in might be the start of other fish shows in the future, for better or worse.
