im looking to purchase a tankmate for 2 tatuaia payara that i have had for a few months now. they are in a 150gal tank with a serious amount of aeration and circulation pumps in it. im hoping to find something that wont get eaten or bit at by these fish. i was thinking either an odoe, yellowtail barracuda, a wolf fish that doesnt have too much of a temper or an african tiger fish. i will be upgrading my tank within a year this is currently a grow out tank. i am also up for any suggestions of tank mates i should get

Hey when you have some time you should take a look at my forum aquatic dynasty. I have plenty of fish perfect as tankmates for tats. Actually all fish listed are currently living with payara. I'm also located in Burlington not to far from you. Let me know, thanks.

ive had bichirs in the past when i had a tiger shovelnose, silver arowana and a clown knife fish. i found them ok but im lookin for somethin thats more of a showy fish.

also anyone think tigrinus would be ok with the tats even tho i have a lot of current in the tank? i know some fish dont like the current

Groupers would eat the payaras, also only a select few bumble bee groupers are actualy freshwater, very hard to convert them, probably 90%+ die.

In my experience, it's not a threat when they are 3" - 10", but they grow like weed >.<"

Successful covertion needs to be very very very very slow :)

Tigrinus do fine with tats provided their not bite sized. But tigs dont have the same size mouth or the voratious nature as a TSN. I also currently have one with my tat and armatus. And tigs actually like a good amount of current as it simulates their natural environment.
