I'm giving up on the mating pair idea. I have a pair that's mated several times but he eats the fry or they die when I move them. Don't have the time or energy. Now he's really taken to beating her up.

So what are my options here? he's about 6 to 7" long and getting pretty aggressive.

I've considered that. There are currently two albino bristlemose plecos in there as well. He hasn't bothered them. keep em?

Pushing it for your 75 gal but if you want to keep both, divide the tank. I find that cichlids look their best when they have their own space but they really shine when there's another male/female they want to terrorize next to them...the divider will prevent any harm and if you decide to breed again, remove the divider.

How is that pushing it? I breed a pair of gts in a 40 breeder before that is way smaller then the 75. Same pairs that are men made just are incompatible they work together for a while then all hell brakes loose eventually.

I prefer to give them as much room as possible. 40 gal is a very common breeder tank...got 2 myself I use for breeding.
