Tankmate for Male GT in a 75G?

How is that pushing it? I breed a pair of gts in a 40 breeder before that is way smaller then the 75. Same pairs that are men made just are incompatible they work together for a while then all hell brakes loose eventually.

I think the point is that divided they would each have an area with only a 24" x 18" footprint.

That's not good for 8-12" fishes. I under stand upgrading but that's really like downgrading.

I prefer to give them as much room as possible. 40 gal is a very common breeder tank...got 2 myself I use for breeding.

I do to but a 75 is more then good enough for a pair to fell comfortable and have enough space. Lol and it is called a 40 breeder for a reason.

Op If you do decide to move the female I wouldn't put nothing in but maybe a good size convict. Despite their small size they can hold their own with cichlids almost twice their size. I had a pair take out an Oscar once and the male was about 3.5".
