  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
im glad im not the only one that observed the asian RTC randomness.
I have heard of them being absolute terrors, and talked to a store owner once that said there wasn't a thing hers didnt try to eat or destroy, even far larger fish,it was there too, now by itself and activly swimming around.
Then I have also seen ones that do nothing but hide all day and seem to be afraid of thier own shadow.

...Getting back to the mixing fish that shouldnt be mixed:
I got my little oscar a few months back at home, who was around 1.5 inches at the time. My tanks are at college, so i figured I would just throw it in a 55 at home for the time being and pray it didnt decide to eat anything. Well a few days later, I bagged it and took it back with me, and the next day after that I got a call asking if I knew where the neon tetras went...

:irked:Ok people I would hate to break up all the love and unity in this thread. But I found my Jag last night bloody and beat to crap! I am not sure if it was over food or what but he is no longer with us. So I guess my true Red Terror is saying he need's his own tank. Although he isn't really going after anyone else I guess the Jags size and appeitite was enough to make him KILL him. My first fish lost in this years collection. I guess it didnt help that I said "I wanted to put a hitt out on the Jag" cause it really happened. Oh well I will miss him just not all the food he ate!:irked::cry:

I must add this. This is the first True Red Terror that I have owned and he was caught from the wild. Looks like I got A Natural Born Killa on my hands. 1st thing on my check list. He gets his own tank on the first of the year.

reminds me of a problem i had with a red devil/midas.. the jag wasnt 2 bad though
I talked to a guy at my lfs about it and he said once he builds his nest you can put a big rock in front of it to cut off his vision from the other fish which would limit alot of the chasing. if you have a wider tank you could try that possibly with the red terror.

My goldfish tank is a huge no-no that's been working fine for ages. Not only do I have 4 large goldfish in the unheated 75, but I also have:

golden barbs
cory cats
small common pleco
small royal pleco
adult male ancistrus
rubber lipped plecos
3 dojo loaches
4 denison's barbs
assorted snails

:D

It worked!? tetras too fast or cons not interested?
The tetras rarely get chased and stay up the top. The cons chase the fish within a 6" area of thier brood. All stays well in a 35G.

Not that big of a deal, but I heard buttis stand no mates at times. So I had him with smaller Africans...

Back when I had my own angels before I got the 55, I had 2 in a 20, introduced 2 kribs and the angels killed them off. Then, I added 2 firemouths, then I lost one angel but the other angel stood its ground and defending itself. Then I added 2 convicts as well as 2 severums, in which the 2 convicts lived, the 2 severums didn't. Then I got the 55, then I introduced the angel, a firemouth, the 2 cons, and the tankmates of the group at the time. Then I introduced 2 nicaraguans (Male and female) and some kind of pleco. The pleco soon died, and I had the nicaraguans till about a few months ago. The nicaraguans were about 4" for the female and 6" for the male. Soon the angel passed away due to getting into a fight with the firemouths. It's just proves though that Angels can handle their own in a tank full of more aggressive cichlids.
