Tankmates for 5"Jardini in 180 gallon...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would imagine right now my 7 inch jardini would get thoroughly bullied by my two 6 inch oscars, then maybe when the jardini grows it would be able to beat them up, but not now.

I have a freind that put 2 3inch oscars with his 12inch arowana and they bit his tail to bits, so i say give it a go but keep an eye on them as long as they are the same size though. Just be coutious.

I have a 10" Jardini, a 10" Tiger Oscar, 2 4" Tinfoil Barbs, a 6" Clown Knife, 2 2" Clown Loaches and some small Plecos in an 85G tank.

They are all getting on fine for now with the only squabbles occuring when the Jardini chases the Tinfoils ... he never catches them though. The Oscar is very chilled since he killed his buddy - another Oscar the same size as him.

I do see some problems in the fairly near future so all these fish will be moving to their new 6'x2.5'x2' home in the next few months. I'm currently doing the research into this tank and should be buying it soon.

Jardinis are generally quite aggro, but they can co-exist with other tank mates ... you just need to try. Always remember that you might have problems when buying this fish, so decide which fish you definately want to kerep no matter what and be prepared to get rid os the other if problems occur.
