Anything that is not overly aggressive and not small enough to be eaten. Also personally would never put a pair of Cichlid in with them.

You could try the Cichlids listed but keep observation on them. My Senegal polys eat almost everyday except when they eat Tilapia I skip a day so they can fully digest the fish. The larger polys in the 180 gallon get fed every other day. You will have to add extra food because most Polypterus are slower than Cichlids and other species of fish.

lol my female EBA almost killed the male after the eggs hatched but yes a Blue Acara could work.

Is it advisable to keep a bichir with an oscar? I want to feed the oscar not to frequently to keep the bioload down
