agreed, you can also try a nice clown knife....its more about size of tankmates than anything else

You're right about the smaller fish. Certainly don't put them with guppies or anything. I assumed he meant what other cichlids he could put them with.

That is what I meant. I'm not a small fish kinda gal anyway. :)

I hear that they like to school when young, so that would work probably when they're small, but I hear they can be territorial when older. Mines still small though, so I'm not sure. Has anyone here kept them together when large?

I have 3 BP's, one of which is a King Kong Parrot. They live with a 14" Clown Knife, senegal bichir, 3-Geo's, and 4 filament barbs. You can pretty much put them with anything as long as they have a place of their own in the tank. They will bully other fish at times, but they cant really injure anybody because they're mouth's cant close all the way. BTW, where in NJ? I am in Atlantic City.

I have mine in with a flower horn but the BP is much larger. Some BP can be down right nasty and some peaceful. You will just have to experiment but remember they can't do any damage with their mouths so don't put anything too aggressive in with them. Oscars have the tame temperament. Jack Dempsey’s and green terrors can be too aggressive. They can go with tinfoil barbs.

I have ten BP with my cichlas with no problems.
