Tankmates for discus

I am setting up a low tech somewhat planted 90g tank (mostly java fern) and definitly want discus. What would be some good tank mates?

I kind of want to get a pair or two of apistogrammas as well as maybe some loaches or corys. Maybe a catfish or pleco as well?

What do you guys think?

IMO discus are the show when you do a disc setup. But you could do cory's, or a shoal of cardinal tetras or neons. i did once keep a blue aro with about 8 discus in a 110 planted but only until it was about 10 inches. Didnt chance it much longer but didnt have any problems.

apisto are fine with discus wont bother the tetra's. a lot of tetras are fine with discus depending on temperature. however if the tetras fit in the mouth of discus its possible and can be eaten by the discus.

forget the ray. I have a 120 gal. and it's too small. I would go with all sa fish so no loaches. apistos are fine as are most tetras, although some can be fine nippers. I have one 5" bn pleco and he cleans what little algae I have. my tank is more of a biotope with wild discus, festivums, and lemon tetra's. everyone gets along fine and my tetras are too big to be eaten by the discus. cories are great but some don't take well to the higher temps. if you are going this route be sure you get discus at 4" or larger. do it right and you will be more than happy with these wonderful fish. this is my tank and it's my first try with discus.

That tank looks great. The tank is for my mom and she said she prefers yellow fish. Those lemon tetras would be PERFECT. The apistos are more or less what I want. How does this stock sound?
