I have a FW lionfish that is about 5in and was wondering what else i could keep with him b/c he is a real boring. i was thinking about a moray eel b/c i have had one of those before and they are pretty nice looking. any other suggestions would be awesome:grinno:

how big is the tank? any fish that won't fit inside it's mouth is a start..

First up I'd add some salt up to around 1/4 marine strength. Your fish might survive in freshwater for a while, but its a brackish species really. After that you could add archerfish, that moray, scats or if you are prepared to keep just two species, some anableps could make interesting tankmates. You'll probably need a bigger tank eventually though

Should I add all the salt at once or should i gradually make the salinity raise over a period of time. Also thanks for all the suggestions they will really help.

Agreed:thumbsup:

Also add salt steadily& slowly. Get it up to at least 1.004 with a PH of 8. They like a sand substrate with hiding places. I got 2 to mate up, they laid brown eggs but they never hatched

no moray is fw, and there is a fw lionfish(1st pic), but i think they are much rarer than the brackish one (second pic).

The second pic looks like an oyster toadfish to me. These fish can live in the most disgusting water possible, and do usually live in full salt, but can go to brakish. And if your fresh is anything like the salt, then dont put in anything that you might even consider is smaller than this fish, if it can get its mouth around it, it will eat it.

just put it in as a thought cause i know that lion fish are often called stone fish or toad fish etc
