Tankmates for FW lionfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
this is why i prefere prehistoric monster fish. thet look the same, are cheaper, easier to care for and not brachish

I went to my lfs today and saw some needlefish there and i fell in love with them. I asked the people who worked there if they could live with my lionfish but they had no clue. I do know that they are both brackish, predatory, and get to close to the same size any answers would be appreciated alot.

no moray is fw, and there is a fw lionfish(1st pic), but i think they are much rarer than the brackish one (second pic).

Actually I just saw some fw morays about 2 weeks ago and they were morays for sure and in fresh water. I hope they live.

yea plenty of lfs sell morays as freshwater. some have been found in freshwater and in brackish because they go to these conditions to spawn and then they make there way to saltwater. there is one moray that is thought to be true brackish. basically they will live but not comfortably and will die a lot younger. use the search on mfk on morays, and there are quite a few discussions about the care of them

a moray is probably not a good idea, might survive for awhile in freshwater or brackish, but probably not very long, and would not be very healthy. they really need saltwater
