i currently have a footlong micro sharing a 500 gal tank with 5 red pacus and 2 albino common plecos. i tried adding 5 oscars and 3 common bichirs. in but the snakehead killed 2 oscars and injured 3 of them. i removed the bichirs in fear of being eaten. im thinking gulper catfish, peacock bass, endli cheri, asian aro, red tail catfish of about the same size? these fish are quite expensive so i post here before making any decisions..

Bichirs usually go well with snakeheads, but snakeheads will thrive with fish of the same size. I would suggest a peacock bass and/or a South American Red Tail Catfish. Dont even bother with an Asian RTC, it will become snakehead versus artc rather than snakehead and artc.

or try African Tigerfish, but I dont know how that would work out as the snakehead is used to still water while the Tigerfish is used to flowing water. But I think the ATF might get attack just for being very silver. How about Payara?

i would not give any suggestion on any type of tankmates for micros. Keep it as a species tank. If u insist, get a bigger and tougher tankmates. Avoid RTC and GARS. But i truly suggest keep it a species tank. Cheers.

hi, have you got any pics? would love to see :)

yup, that is one hell of a thin line to walk on.. I wouldn't try it with anything that it isn't used to!

Hi,the best tank for micros is a species tank but if they have grown with other fishes there is a chance to let them live together!

hard to find a micro of the same size for sale here. im thinking a couple of channa striata of the same size or larger? they are market fish in some areas here in the phil though not in our city i can easily obtain it from neighboring rural areas for a cheap price. my wife said her dad used to have a bunch of these in a pool-turned-fishpond in their old house and says these fish are nowhere near as aggresive as our current micro...
