Hello I have a 8 inch male santa parrot cichlid in my 75 gallon tank who’s quite aggressive, he used to live with a female blood parrot, it went well for awhile she laid eggs a couple times and then after about 9 months together living in peace as a pair he wouldn’t stop attacking her until I removed her. Anyways i was considering other tankmates that are non cichlid, wondering if a group of maybe 4 clown loaches would work, I would set them up many hiding spots incase the Santa parrot gets aggressive. Any opinions would be great thanks

Botia loaches have worked well for me as tank mates for south/central cichlids + their hybrids in the past. They can release large quantities of slime coat as anti predator defense , I assume it's pretty nasty since I had a group of yoyo loaches living with a FH and he never touched them ever. Only long term issue is that clown loaches get big.

Thank you for the advice, I think I’ll get a group of smal clown loaches and upgrade the tank when they reach a proper size, I know the growth rate on clown loaches is very slow, my last few tha I’ve had took about 2 years to get from 1 inch to 3 inches
