point is, you dont wanna take the risk of putting really good fishes with your jar, better separated, it just aint worth it

Ok heres my story on my Jar. b4 i bought dis guy i had set up a 150gal all 4 him. so as test fizh 4 da tank i bought 1/2 dozen tiger barbs around 1''s. So when da tank was ready 2 accept its occupant i brought da Jar home. and left all 6 TB's in da tank . da next day 2 my disbelief all 6 TB's were still in da tank swimming as freely as if there was no monster in da tank. Wow it look'd so kool seeing all these lil TB's swimming with dis monster i went out and bought a dozen more. it look'd so amazing knowing the reputations of JAR's. So during feeding time the Jar gets fd shrimp and a couple of pinches of flakes 4 da TB's. They coexisted 4 about a month...until i started feeding him tilapia strips. I then noticed that the barb population started 2 thin out. I then knew he started 2 have that taste 4 fleshy food. Shortly after all but 3 TB's were left i threw in a 10" male red devil and a 12'' butti. ok kool they seem 2 b gett'n along a day later the next morning tragedy struck da red was tore 2 pieces barely moving in da corner and the butti also shreded. being a bare bottom tank the bottom was covered with scales and pieces of dorsal and tail.
So he was alone in a 150 4 bout 5 months. I figure i'll try 1 mo time with a tankmate so i chosen a redtail'd cat.knowing cats have really tough skin and the RTC having almost armor plating like heads that dis would b a good choice of a tankmate. sho nuff almost 7 months later they been living harmoniously together ever since. The JAR is 21" and RTC 22" .:grinno:

I keep a Jar with 4 silvers, 3 blacks and an asian. The Jar is the smallest of them all, but fears no one...she acts tough but without a problem...( i've kept this sort of community for years and years..)

I have, however, another Jar who has killed more fish, some biger than her, than I care to remember.

I have tried her with an FRT, the thing went stressy for two days and now it is allright.

So allright that I added in a Papyrocranus Afer ( african knifefish, some call it the Arowana knife )

They are the same size, measure each other like to toughs, but the experience is working....

To be honest i rekon my theory is right if you are looking for one.. Page 25..
before and after.. and what he is feeding on..

Thanks for the tip, well for a trial I have introduced 8 pieces of my silver shark (7" to 9") with my jardini. As the bigger silver sharks (12" to 13") are really jumpy.

It has been ok for a week now. If it does not work out (time will tell), I will re-introduce it to my koi pond.

Cheers!

Jardini are very territorial fishes.. and they will try to attack any type of fish.. remember my uncles Jardini killing a siamese Tigerfish, I was like wow cuz the Tigerfish my uncle had was massive and proportioned

Ive been wanting to put a Silver Aro with my Jardini at equal size my jar is about 5 inches is it to risky to put them together and i was thinking of putting them in a 55 gallon growout tank

I did keep my Jar with 4 dats, an frt, p bass and clown loaches until this weekend.....

After doing a water change (using water from a different part of the country) he kicked off, and killed a dat, and went on to terrorise the tank...

I've segregated him now but it's a shame.

From this event i am begininng to think the chemistry of the water had an affect on the fish's aggresion as it was a very rapid change (from no aggresion) to major aggresion within 3 days...
