an 8 inch..he's pretty agressive..funny thing is, he only goes after the gourami and not the other tankmates which is blood parrots, african cichlids and pleco and a rtc.

Generally, Jardini's visible aggression starts when it hits 8". Give him some time, he will start scaring your BPs & other fishes too.;)

Probably the issue with the giant gourami, though, is the defined scale size, the semi-elongated body, and the flat dorsal surface. Because he's the closest thing to another arowana in the tank, he's showing him aggression first.

Sorry did not have time to read the entire thread. what about keeping Jardini and leichardti togeather ? I have a baby 3 inch lacharti and would like to get a jardini about the same size and raise them together but not so sure about the risk with this mix. I have seen many photo's with groups of Arowanas...

I have a 14-15" Widebar and a 14-15" Fl Gar in with my 10-11" Jardini in a 180g with no problems..yet.

Trick is to start with large tankmates and get a small Jardini and let him grow up used to his tankmates and not threatened by them.

Thanks thats just great i have a 12 in jar .. where the hell am i find a big gar... but if the jar is smaller wont it feel more threatened and attack the gar??

I once introduced a jardini in a 380 gallon tank inhabited by large cichlids...see the vids in my signature....
I removed the jardini after 24 hours as he was beating the crap out of my XXXL managuensis and Amphilophus chancho.......not what I expected.....

The jardini was 18 inches....

The shop keeper was willing to take it back for 30% of the original price .... in pet food (not cash)... He told me he would sell the bugger a couple of times before it would really find its spot.

jardini comm, for those of you who say it cant be done...
