How many of you have big tanks that aren't on the floor level of your building? What size are they, what kind of building is it, how is your landlord/lady, etc?

I ask because I live on a 2nd story apartment, and may need another tank soon. Either way, it's an interesting topic.

My landlord told me he wasn't concerned about the weight (if I get what I want/need that'll be about 2500 pounds!. . . what was he picturing?:nilly:) but he was concerned about leakage, so now I have renter's insurance. Cheap too. Any experiences or thoughts?

I have a 120 and a 75 on the second floor, and I know some of the people on here have tanks over22 gallons on the the 2nd and 3rd floor. Just be careful about the postioning of the tank.

ok well you can large tank on your 2nd floor is it cement flor???? ok thnk it as this way a 125 is 8square feet so thats 15.26 gallons per sqaure foot. then a 300g starnder is 8x2.5x2.5 it is 20 square feet and it is 15 gallons per square feet :) so you see it acully wauights less per squre foot for a 300g then 55g...lol

Oh my, I just had my new 125 delivered on Friday, I'm really starting to think who knows if the tank full of water is not to heavy, My ladlord just had his whole apartment redone I know they moved walls but didnt move the beams because we live on the second floor. I just hope everything is ok, I put my canister filter in a basin, just in case it gets a leak I can maybe catch it before it gets on the whole floor. Thats all I need is get my landlords new paint ruined.

Modern building materials are fairly good these days. I wouldn't recomend going over a ton on a upper level.

I always use the couch comparison. 1 couch full of 4 200lb people (not uncommon)weighs about 900lbs, the same as a 90-100 gallon tank. The number in my post above was supposed to be tanks over 200 gaollons.

I got a 250G on the second floor...I lost 50g out of it when the filter backed up! My kitchen had a waterfall down one side! Lick of paint, and a musty smell for a week, and its sorted! Had to drill a load of holes in the ceilng to cause a puddle had formed between the false ceiling and the floorboards...putty filler rocks! Hows the landlord...hes a ****. Its not for nothing his house is the only one in the village with CCTV, lol. Think i'll overflow the whole tank when we leave!

*bump*ity bump :)

bump

Seriously, no one else has second story tanks?

I had a 180 on the second floor of a regular wood built building but only filled it about 2" from the top .just find the load bearing wall
