Endangered status. Most Asian aros though are now captive-bred but some people especially members from MFK are working on changing the rules.
 
well thats fair enough
if its captive bred
then you are helping restore the population!

axolotls are almost if not extinct in the wild
there is more axolotls in a petshop then the wild
 
beautiful arro! they are not allowed in the u.s because they are on the endangered species list (c.i.t.e.s.)(google it) even though the only ones being sold around the world are from captive bread farms and dont threaten the fishes servival whatsoever. i feel for ya guys to, i love walking into my lfs and looking at all the different high end exotic arros. thiers one there for 30,000!!
 
coz no one in the government is up to date and try to reverse the laws on not allowing captive bred fish importation even if they are still endangered
