Here is my 22" Violet Fusion, I want to get him really red. Been using a Nan light for 8 hours a day and havent seen any difference. Will this tan ok or should I maybe invest in a acardia arowana light?

Also with other fish in tank I cant really tan for excessive periods.

Thanks in advance

How long have you been tanning? I'm not sure there's a different result to be expected using arcadia lights vs nan.

One suggestion that doesn't involve tanning would be to use a darker substrate.

The tank setup is not correct. You need to put him in a 3/4 black tank to see the full effect of a red.

yeh black back,bottom would help

Seems like your tanning light is not in the proper place. If you put your light up at the top like in your pictures, the intensity would be mostly directed along its dorsal region. You need to have the light up at where it swims in order for you to get that light to do its job on either sides of your arowana.

And yes you also need a dark setup or you will not get the full effect.

Thanks. Light is submerged at fish level now unlike in pics. Does a nan tan or is it more of a viewing light?

Will, havent you got a RTG? In which case a tanning light wouldnt do any good IMO?

Koji has told me it will have some effect. I'm hoping to get a very yellow gold out of this fish so I'm planning on gutloading crickets with spirulina and combined with tanning, hopefully I will get the desired effect.
