Hi
Tap contains chlorine and maybe chloramine.
Lake water contains right ph nitrificating bacteria but maybe diseases.

What is best choice considering treatment, length of treatments, risks of mortality and diseases?

Thanks

Ive been looking to our water tower and cleaning central>
They use CALCIUM HYPOCHLORITE 65%.
it is a component of bleach as well.
any advice ?

Got a test kit? Try testing both with a water conditioner added. Unsure if you'll need to test lake water with water conditioner? Hopefully somebody more informed can help.

I would try to use what is easily and readily available...

so probably your tap...

You've got to do weekly water changes, and running to the lake for water that still needs to be conditioned and is always under suspect of changing might prove to be impractical...;)

If you decide on tap water, how do you plan on lowering the pH?
considering you want to keep south american fish.

he can just use ph right
but then when he does a water change he'd have to add the ph tabs to the new water before putting the new water in his tank, that way his fish arnt subject to a tramatic change in ph

I used tap water mixed with aquarium salt and let it sit in the tank for a month with powerhead and filter on before I introduce my fish in.
