  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i would never use lake water. at least over here everytime ive used lake water somewhere along the way could take months, BGA forms and from there its unstoppable.

thx to all for your answers...
the lake is 50 meter from the 1000 us gallon pond.
Just made tetra strip test
ph:8.4
kh:10d
gh:6d
no2:0
no3:0

Tap water treated from the same lake by government
ph7.6
kh:3d
gh:6d
no2:0
no3:0

Is tetra strip test reliable?

I ll use peat to lower my ph...

Problem is that i do not have easy access to aquaria products...

If you decide on tap water, how do you plan on lowering the pH?
considering you want to keep south american fish.

just acclimate them to the tap water.... done this with so many fish... even discuss....

use tap water and prime....

Just discovered that normal rain has a pH of 5.6...
Who to treat it against chemicals what filter to use?

Never seen bloom of Blue green algae = bga in 10 years.

Is there Clorine in the gov't treated tap water?

Is it cheaper to get water from the lake? It will save on dechlor products.

Do you have to carry the water (good exercise) or can you install a pump? (my style ;)).

If your worried about germs and algae from the lake water, get a large UV and run the W/C thru it slowly to make sure everything gets killed.

Peat is good if you don't mind the tanic colored water. Setup a 55g drum and let the water from the UV go thru the peat and into the pond.

Have we seen pix of your pond yet?

Large UV hmm?
