It's not what you want, but here are some pics of a juvie Megalops atlanticus kept in pure fresh water for around a year, in a lfs. Look at this little fella:

Sooooooo SHINY! :D

Best regards.

Daniel.

How long does it take the indo pacific tarpon to reach 1ft? How about 2ft? What tankmates should they be kept with?

Only the pacific tarpon gets GIGANTIC. The ones commonly sold in the pet trade are the indo-pacific species and stay much smaller.

Ming, you are mistaken. Its the Atlantic Tarpon that gets huge. Megalops Atlanticus

So what's the max size for the indo pacific? Is it the same as an arowana? what are good tankmates?

sorry, I was typing too fast.

I meant Atlantics get huge and indo-pacifics stay smaller. no reason to mention "pacific" twice with opposite info.

Until now, I had no idea atlantic tarpon could be kept in fresh water. I know where to catch the adults...but where are the nurseries for tarpon? In other words, where would a guy with a net from Florida go looking for the babies?

Hey fishnthings, nothing wrong with having dreams. I know it'll probaly never happen, just like I know I'll probally never have a 50 000gallon tank that I'm always thinking about, but hey, its nice to daydream:) Tell me you've never dreamed about having a bigger tank, having a fish that is banned etc.

Tell the truth, I'll be happy with a 20-30 pounder, since the biggest I've caught over here has been a 10ish
