Tat and Ery combo

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A lot of reds I've had never liked long elongated fish. Just something to be aware about of when deciding.

Another option would be a group of scombs. Won't push ur tank size and is manageable. Downgraded red payara.
+1 and as far as the red fin, wouldn't temp be an issue? Don't know much about red fin pickerel except they stay small though...

I would, but I hear they are very susceptible to disease, and typically a lot shier
However I will consider the idea

A ery and a Redfin pikerel might work
I was wondering the same as Moe will they be able to handle warmer wate?, because as far as I know they prefer cooler water

We have a lake out here that has a lot of grass pikerel, the water is shallow and gets into the high 70s to low 80s often.as for redfins they seem to do fine in hot lakes down south.

Pickerel can handle a good varying water temp. I've never heard of it requiring a cool down period either like subtrop channas. I remember predkeeper mentioning this if I remember right.

Also scombs and tats are susceptible to ick. Not much resistant. Being the most common affliction.

If you can do a 120 or 125 definitely do it. You'll have lots more room to work with. And could definitely keep the tats in there nicely. I had 3 in a 120 for a good amount of time, they were great.

I just want to add if those tats are small then try not to use a lot of current in your tank. They are a lot more calm with less water movement and less skittish. I have a group of juv. tats and I noticed they don't like water current in my tank, and always try to jump when I turn off the power head to do maintain. I turned off the power head for a week and now they don't give a damn when I do maintain and just relax swim away from my tool.

ery ery won't handle current well. yuki has a point. The bigger cousins of these guys (like Aimara and Armatus) will handle current though.
