tat dead at 10"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This has got to stop man...... I haven't lost one yet and they are just about the size that seems to be problematic......I'll tell you what though.... when they were a little smaller they ate non-stop. Now that they are in with the Armatus they sneak a feeder here and there but it seems like they really don't want to eat anymore.

may be it's like puberty or menopause, something in the nature of the fish changes, making it nervous, leading to lack of appetite and heightened nervousness.

either that or it just doesn't do well in cohabs.

mine was in captivity for about a year at least, so i doubt parasites

Hmm

In that year was there ever a time when it was feed a live food item?
Was there ever a introduction of a new tank mate that had not been treated for parasites?

Some animals can live there complete life span with parasites and have no trouble. They say that most fish in the wild have parasites.

I truly think that if every predatory wild caught characin owner would treat there fish for parasites at least on a yearly basis that these problems would go away.

My oldest tat has been in captivity since late 2007. And i have personally seen parasite med's stop this behavior on more than one occasion.

dont these fish like extreamly fast water????????? maybe once they hit 10" they start to act diff and swim in fast motions....... idk but maybe u just need a huge tank and have a strong current so they cant dart off and hit something..........
