Look like Scomb, but until I can see a good shot of the tail, it's hard to tell from those two pics

I know they're bad shots, the tails are small too, from tail to tip it's dark then fades to white at tip. I have scombs before at this size, they don't look alike, the eyes are smaller and these have more meat on them compared to thin scombs

but i'm not expert, i just thought I know enough to know they're not scombs. if they are scomb, i'm returning them

Is the tail round shape? Well, if the tail is small, there's a great chance that it's Scomb

no, they're shaped like a sharks tail but rounded out, not pointy, like the top part of fin is bigger that bottom.

scomb is dark and eyes are big

Get a good shot at the tail. That's the important part... Or else, all payaras look alike, a head with a pair of big eyes and a mouth full of teeth

Looks yellow tail to me, simular to red tail payara only...with a yellow tail. It's just very very fat that makes the head look like scomb on first impression.
