I was in the lfs today, and saw some really different looking balloon mollies. They were white, and had pink/blue/red dots and hearts on them. At first, I thought I was seeing things, and then I realized they couldn't actually look that way normally. I asked the owner, and he said they were tatooed! While they were very attractive, I am not sure I like the idea. I would imagine they would have felt some pain during the process.

Anyone seen any other tatooed fish?

Yes it is a very painful process for the fish. They inject it with needles into the fish. Most of the time the fish looses a lot of immunities and can die early.

Ive seen a few, dont like it at all.Never hear about one thats been kept awhile.Theyre mainly for noobs to kill in the 10g box of death they got at walmart.

They have some with hearts on them at one of my lfs. It's pretty weird and unnatural.

yeah i saw this in my lfs and just shook my head. so sad.

There are many threads on tatooed and dyed fish on the site, the search will bring up long discussions on it. Personally I'd not shop at a place that sells them, and also let them know it.
