IMO there are at least two types of tattoo getters.. The ones who get something personal mainly for the meaning behind it, and the ones who are rather free spirited and get it as a form of art.

.

I believe there are more than two types ;) But to add one more simple one ...

I am an Artist and I have people show up with stuff just to have a tattoo... And so others would think they are cool... I schedule these kinds of people out a few weeks to give them a chance to jump ship on the idea.. Some do.. And some come back a few times with several different spur of the moments; before deciding maybe they don't want one, or that they should wait just a little longer.

And then there are the collectors.. Some that collect from one artist and some that travel through shops and find different artists they want to have work on them for the art factor... And pic a piece or the artist picks a piece after getting to know them and it works out :)

Just some of my experience..

I have found that the stupidest choice that is at least 95% regretted from my cover up experience is names of romantic partners.. Both once married and not married.. I cover up more names than any other tattoo :)

don't want to sound like a donkey, but don't tattoos shorten your life span?

Im 33.I work around lots of important ppl and businesses.I get tats that mean very much to me.Ive had them for around 9 or 10 years and am getting more.I wish they never became popular and thats why I stopped for a while but now I dont care.SOme ppl want to look cool so bad they go get meaningless crap tated a fast as they can.Sorry but its not about cool anymore so you better be sure to get what you want and not what you think your bro will think looks cool. So,make it count, use your head and remember how fast things you like fade in and out of your life so dont get something that might be a fad in your life that you may want to forget some day.WHo cares if my tats look faded and wrinkled some day, give me a break.Like thats what youl be focused on while Im putting a box of depends in my shopping cart.Peace out,Ive judged some ppl before for one reason or the other and missed out on great relationships. If your on the opposing side of this, dont be too fast to judge someone on it,you may be ripping yourself off from meeting someone you may really end up liking. The end, thank you drive thrue.

Yeah just pointing out the two far sides of the spectrum. But you know better than I do then. :)

That ass cat is halarious but would never want it on me!

I have 2 but would have been 3 but got one covered because of the fact i was 14 when i got it done and was not in the right mind. I truly believe you should be an adult to make the right decsion, and even then sometimes it can be wrong. When you go you have to make sure the reason youre doing it is for yourself and noone else and know in mind the reprecautions it might have in the future.

i planned on getting a back piece and had it all drawn up and was saving up money to do then decided not to and now im kinda glad. also i have seen a guy here with the word jesus on his forehead, but now its just a black box. also i look at all the people that come here for spring break with full sleaves and and look stupid and i just think what are you going to tell your grandkids when your 75-80 years old? at that age you could have a tat that is almost 60 years old and you cant even figure out what it is. so all i have to say is think before you act.
