Alright folks here is my Octopus/Sharks sleeve in progress.
about 15 hours so far, all freehand drawn on skin with marker before tattooing.
Find your artist bring him some ideas maybe some reference pics and let him/her run wild with it!! I guarantee you will get a tattoo that is waaay better than what you first envisioned it to be!
I have been getting inked steady for 11 years now and the only thing I regret is the BS tattoo artists I went to when i was 18-25 before I knew better! Got more than half my back done that needs to be lightened by laser and covered!
I hate to break it to you, but that shark on the left is anatomically incorrect on the top fin. It looks like its of to the left instead of being centered. The smaller sharks top fin is wrong as well, too far back. Im not sure the one eyed creature is drawn correctly as I cant tell what it is.

Where do you see traced work?. The illuminatus tattoo is not on my skin its just an example of what a good artist can do. If you had the eye for it you would realize the arrangement of the characters are different so there's no trace work involved. And yes I throw the word art around quite a bit because the truth of it is 99 percent of tattoo guys are about as skilled as my 11 year old brother. Anyone can take a simple 2d cartoon outline and trace it on someones skin and you see plenty of that **** going on. And even then you see shakey lines, raised skin, blotchiness etc. If you also look closely at the werewolf tattoo there's no line work, its all shading ontop of shading, and that's impossible to transfer to the skin with a stencil. I like the design, some do not, but the skill level needed to do the piece to almost an exact copy with no stencil is impressive.

Jesus. Someone's a bit butthurt. Anyways, back on topic, here's my only so far. I plan on adding more to it and possibly turning it into a leg piece.
Everything going on my body, minus a few here and there, will be somehow related to the undead or octopus. My next investment is going to be a half-sleeve of Davy Jones from Pirates. Like this:
I'm sure I'll catch some flak for it because not everyone has an open mind (not to point fingers or anything). But I find octopus extremely fascinating and somewhat representative of myself. My chest piece is going to be Davy Jones-esque as well. I'm going to have his heart as the middle piece with lots of tentacles coming around from the back. Some of the tentacles will be holding various artifacts (one I have in mind is the compass that never points North) and will be holding a banner that says "Die defending that which your heart keeps closest". I plan to invest several thousand dollars in artwork on my body. So if anyone has anything negative to say, leave it at the door. This is my own body and each tattoo will be for myself. But I'm open to more suggestions.
Oh, and the undead are just awesome. That will be a 3/4 sleeve.
