Can anyone tell me if there are any true tea cup species as I've bin told my local fish shop can get them and they are black with blue spots and will only get to 1ft disc size should I go for these or stick to motoro's
Cheers guys.:(

never heard of a black and blue spotted ray... unless he is talking about some sort of saltwater ray i dont think so... most tea cups are actually retric rays, and a 1ft disk size is unheard of so... doubtful so... stay with motoros :)

tea cup ray is just a name that is given to small rays that wholesalers dont know the spiecies of is when they get them in... so they call them tea cups... they are normally cheap in price $40-$80 and are normally reticiculated rays (retic) they normally have a max size of 18" but they make up for thier smaller size with larger tails... to me... ur better off with a motoro because they are alot hardier and easier to feed. Personally reticulated rays arnt as cool as motoros cuz motoros have spots where retics are just kinda plain... hope i helped

Nice one! you helped allot, up until recently I was keeping & breeding discus I fancied a change and I'm not sure weather you read my introduction but I have just got my black arrow and 2 oscar's but they are in a temporary tank at the mo as I haven't set up my 6x2x2 yet! Cheers
