lmao good luck with the retics if your getting one, but please make sure you have the right set up and I would suggest getting a motoro before a retic (if possible), bec they are very hardy and arent as picky eaters compared to retics.

he guys, why not make a sticky with minimum tank size for some species of rays and some more info that is needed to start with rays..??

Yeah seriously...Its not like you can find good care guides on the interweb, trust me I looked.

Just search through the forums and read all the sticky's to find out some more info on them.

Calm down fellas, no needs to lay the beat down on someone interested in getting rays.

everywhere i read, including here, alot of people say retics are hard to care for.

im almost positive what i have are two retics, and are both thriving. their different sized, bought at different times and from different places. religious water changes, good food, good bio filtration, and tankmates that pay no mind to them generally have worked SO FAR.

i read on here i think, the reason people say retics are hard to tend to, is because they get lax with care for a $40 retic, as opposed to a $120+ motoro or other more $$ ray.

i admit im speaking from 3 months of ray keeping, but it seems ive kept them alive and healthy longer than alot of other people can.

I have an idea, why don't we make a sticky on "Why you should read the sticky's"?

...nvm

I've had mine for about 1.5 years and they're doing great, but the probelm is that the wolesalers dont keep them in very good shape and by the time they get to a pet shop they're almost dieing. I think the main thing that is needed to keep these rays alive is to find a healthy one, along with water changes, good filtration, lots of food, etc.

I do not know why people say retics are so hard to take care of. My first ray was one and he ate bloodworms from my hand within the first month. I had to sell him because I moved. My second one would only eat live blackworms, which gets $$$. I sold him and decided my next ray will be a motoro. If you want to get a ray, start with a motoro. Even though they are more expensive at first, they will be cheaper to care for in the long run because they are not as picky eaters. Also, motoros are prettier than retics by far. Just my 2 cents.
