Oh man, you're going to convert a 550 gallon tank into a sump?! I'd just look for a used 200-300 gallon tank for that. The 550 seems like it would be a waste to use as a sump because that is a much rarer size tank. It would certainly be sufficient though. You could grab a used 220 and a used 125 and make sumps for both the 755 and the 550, and then run both.
Another option would be to sell the 550 for a decent price and then buy a used 200-300 gallon tank much cheaper for the sump, and then put the saved money towards some nice fish.
Any way you go about it though, I'm sure it will be awesome!
The 550 is a sump tank not a display tank. There's pictures on page 3 I believe of the 550 sump
Here's some more pics of the tank. A lot of thought is going into this thing. Still don't know if this is what I'm sticking with yet or if I'm going bigger. Will probably keep the sump either way. All depends on which tanks sell and which ones don't at this point. If the 300 and 270 both sell then I'll keep the 480 and 750. Or I'll sell them all and go for an 8x8x3. Don't know yet. Still have to move houses and do some other things in life but I thought I would update everyone on this thread.
