I'm probably going to end up purchasing the turbo twist. I have a Rena XP3 and an aquaclear 110 for filtration. Just another question: Is doing the UV sterilizer as a hang on as effective as connecting it to the cannister? I would actually like to try and connect it to the cannister. Right now, my thoughts are that I need to cut the return tube from my XP3 and stick each cut end onto the UV sterilizer. I have also seen different configurations being done with pipe attached to the Sterilizer. What is the deal with those? After I have the Turbo Twist hooked up to the XP3, can I just turn it on? If I do this, what is the best possible way to keep the flow rate from decreasing? I have also been reading that I have to try and match the flow rates of the UV and XP3. How can I accomplish this? Does anyone have pictures to explain this seemingly complicated process of connecting a UV sterilizer?

Install is pretty straight forward if you are going to hook it up to the canister. Cut the hosing...Make sure it fits, clamp everything, run the filter to make sure there are no leaks...Turn on the UV and you are done. I just setup mine tonight in less then 30 minutes.

95socalstang (shorter names people:D ) has it right.

If you want to slow down the flow to the UV, put a 'T' before the UV with a valve on on the free end of the 'T' to bleed off pressure (water) and reduce flow thru the UV. Most use a ball type pvc valve for this function.

After reading through this thread I didn't seem to find anyone suggesting this- Since you want clean water running through the UV sterilizer and don't want to use a powerhead, The best thing I can think of is; Rather than install it in-line with the XP3's inlet tube, Cut the Outlet tube and install it in-line. This way you will have filtered water running through the UV Sterilizer. As far as water flow being deminished I don't think it will make much of an impact. Let us know what you decide to do. I was considering this idea when I had the FX5 but it never came to fruition.
