HA HA thanks man!Nice! Now a Wolf and your set haha
I sure hope so, i really love armatus...You mean an angry Walleye???![]()
I was hesitant about getting one cause of the reputation they have, but after having one, I wouldn't trade it for any fish.... None of the fish I've kept over the years have had the kind of impact on me as my wolf has. They can really change a person's outlook on a lot of things.
Hopefully Keepin will help me with Keepin the faith that it is possible to keep Armatus in captivity, cause after years of failed attempts I don't have much faith left, but it only takes 1 monster grown up by a fellow MFKer to keep that faith going....![]()

What is the hype over a wolf????? maybe i need to get one.. they look boring...lol But the way you talk about them, i must be missing something. i have never seen one in person!
After loosing so many of the other Characins it's hard to overlook the track record of Aimara in captivity. They seem tough as nails as long as they don't get out.
Besides we all know they are just pieces in the puzzle of a crazy monster tank, no fish is necessarly better then others, and we all agree when the apex species are mixed it's truly a sight! But I can't help but think some of the monsters out there are misunderstood, or have undeserved stereotypes.....It's hard to explain unless in their presence, but it's the way they make you feel when they look at you. They aren't scared at all. They will sit right there at the glass and flare their gills as they stare you down, and it's not just glances, they don't back down, yet don't lash out. Calm like a bomb. They intimidate, make you feel like you don't want to see what they're capable of. A fish that demands respect. But it's not the same egg shell feeling, the feeling of having to be so careful around the room the tank is in so that there isn't a face smashing freak out session. The tank no longer belongs to you, it belongs to the wolf, and they make you feel that way whenever it's time to go in there for something. I have to be very careful when I have to reach into the tank. It's hard to believe something can be so mean towards people, yet tolerant of tank mates. You can't help but be appreciative of being able to watch such an incredibly powerful fish grow up and interact with other fish. Mine will swim with the other fish, eat with the other fish, has never attacked or been aggressive, but yet while being so peaceful, they're able to snap out of it, charge to the front and stare you down if it thinks for some reason you may be threatening it's home. There's also something in the way they move, seems very relaxed, almost melow, yet explosive. Kind of like a croc. Not twitchy and darty like most Characins are. They just kind of hover mid water, a big black intimidating presence.
Maybe I'm a sucker for a security fish??After loosing so many of the other Characins it's hard to overlook the track record of Aimara in captivity. They seem tough as nails as long as they don't get out.
As far as activity level, they're no Dorado by any means but real similar to my Clown Knife. Turn the lights out and the wolf comes right out, just like the Knife, but all over the tank, not just the bottom. Always comes out to eat.
I don't wanna hijack your thread Mike, but you asked....Besides we all know they are just pieces in the puzzle of a crazy monster tank, no fish is necessarly better then others, and we all agree when the apex species are mixed it's truly a sight!
