if i'm remembering correctly, aren't all pike's teeth small and hook-like for holding onto food?

I think Pikes from the Reticulata group seem to have the most visible teeth

It all depends on the size and habitat the pikes are coming from. I think they all have pretty good sized teeth, but i don't think they have psuedocanines like the Parachromis species. Crenicichla sp.'jegui' has some nice chompers though...

My Xingu I group is the only group that I regularly let bite me (sort of a feeding ritual)...but it is through rubber gloves. I feel powerful bites, but the teeth don't tear the gloves.

Note: I DO NOT play those games with my larger fish (see the avatar)...the Xingu group ranges from 4" to 7" or 8".

Mikes Killer Fish has it right? If so, then yes, its a Crenicichla vittata. They have HUGE mouths....so take that into consideration....
