@snakeguy101- thanks I think he is pretty happy. Last measurement was last week and he was 37" if I remember right.

@HIPIZZLE- yep I am convinced that all burrowing lizards really need is a nice deep substrate. He doesn't climb on the branches at all. I think I will just add more dirt and maybe a few pipes for him to go in.

You can also probably add a shelf in thier for him to climb on, to take up some top space....then again it will probably be hard to attach..

I have an adult tegu in an 8' x 3' enclosure... It has a shelk that is 5' long and 9" wide. It sits about 12" above the substrate. My Tegu can and does climb up on it but not very often. The only two times he does is when A) he is trying to get closer to the heat lamps (the air temp is about 7*F warmer up there than on his basking platform) and B) when I fail to let him out of the enclosure when he claws at the door (he climbs onto the shelf and leaps off making all sorts of noise).

Long story short... In my experience, supplying climbing material in a Tegu's enclosure is not important at all....

PS - Your Tegu is looking great! I'd love to hear a late winter/early spring update!!!

Couldn't agree with you more. When my tegu was young and light she would try to climb up everything. But as she has gotten older she would much wrather go under or around things than over them. The branches do serve as cover for her so that's a plus.

Oh and thanks for the compliment. I will be sure to post more pics when she wakes up. For right now i'm just stocking food for the coming summer/spring.

This thread is old. Make a habit of not bumping old threads. I believe he got rid of it, I could be wrong..

I'm glad he did otherwise I never would've seen it and I enjoyed reading it. Perhaps u should spend alittle less time looking for threads to leave negative comments on..

It gets annoying when I have to sift through old posts to get to something new.
