Tegu eating cloth?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Of course, she's a female. I knew that. Sorry.
And watching a two year old.. I can see that happen. LOL
My tegu is a Colombian and indeed mean as sin. But stunning..
And my LRS has Argentines.

Only thing is they keep winterrecess.
Or is it not such a big deal as I imagine?
Cause her stunning appearance may overcome the challenge of hibernation.

Couple of months ago someone offered me two adult Argentines with BIG enclosure for free..
Am I stupid I didnt took 'em in?

that undeniably will be a yes

It's really weird sometimes what a Tegu will suddenly decide is his/hers and will carry it off. My Tegu has a very odd attraction to shoes, and he's kidnapped a few...

I doubt she has eggs. She would be very close to dropping if she did and you would certainly be able to see/feel them.

Try playing tug of war with her when she's on carpet and pull straight, not up. Tegus are frightening strong and a rag is perfect for them to sink their teeth into.

She's beautiful Reggie, you've done very well with her

Thanks a lot I certinly try my best with her :). Interesting you mention the shoes because my tegu has actually dragged my socks into her enclosure . I am glad you noticed I pulled up also because when I do pull straight even on hard floor she will thrash and grab the cloth out of my hand. They are strong lizards even this little female. I am sure your brute of a male is even stronger.

Haha! Jayne does that to my sneakers and food cans if I set them down in reach (and her ability to get things in "reach" is impressive lol) and go look for a can opener.

The tug o' war at the end was great, lol.

Thanks, anything I leave on the floor is fair gain to be bitten and climbed on. She is a very inquisitive lizard.

How old is she now? She's gorgeous looking

Thanks, she is about 2 years old now.

Ahhh you should have gotten them! They are awesome lizards that have individual personalities unique to each lizard. Very inquisitive also. Anything and everything she tries to get into. I have found her sleeping on my bed multiple times. I have also found her pooping on my bed multiple times :irked:. But i love her to death.

shes gorgeous!!
i cant wait for this season to hatch out!!
i gotta female b&w coming from varnyard.

That's great! Bobby Hill breeds the best tegu around. You will love keeping your tegu. Be sure to post plenty of pics when you get her. They should be hatching VERY soon.

very cool. I hardly ever check out this part of this site these days. But i wasnt aware these tegu reptiles were freindly enough to let wander around the house. I used to have a huge iguana that was about 2 and a half feet with out the tail and i had a huge 8x4x3 ply wood enclosure for it. And would let it out when ever i was home and he was super freindly. Untill one day it sliced a big gash out of my throat with its mouth was a little close for comfort. was like a razor blade and i got rid of it shortly after that. Seen people have certain kinds of monitors and let them loose but this is cool. Good job on raising here it is a georgous specimen.

Thanks a lot. Yea iguanas can be nasty. Years ago I was doing research on them because I was considering keeping one and my mom was actually open to the idea because she liked that they were vegetarian. But you read a lot of stuff that you don't see on videos and what not. Males especially can be unpredictable.

The great thing about tegus being tame is that not only can you the keeper as well as other people interact with them but it allows you to give them more room and more opportunities that you wouldn't be able to give them if they were vicious. They are great animals with a very distict personalities.

I will do my own research on these amazing creatures of the reptile family and not derail your thread. Im glad this one has a great home. And thanks for sharing the video. I used to love my iguana eating out of the cat bowl. And when the cat would get mad he would smack it with its tail, not hard like it could just enough for a warning.

Your not derailing anything just asking some questions which is cool.
