Hope you don't mind, but do you know about how long for it to clear? I'm not impatient, I have to wait for the lids to come in anyway from the LFS, but I can't find any info on that. TIA
Yeah, that's what we did, just not as good as we thought, I suppose. Actually, in the few hours since I've taken that picture, it's cleared up better than I though. I can see the filter hanging off the back. I did, however, just spend an hour with the very fine net and cleared out alot of the suspended material.
How soon before I can hook up the FX5 to start doing it's thing? The wife would kill me if I broke a filter by pulling in too much sand.

The thing is huge. It looks like a mini-shop vac. 
The tank/stand was part of a "kit sale", and it came included, along with everything else needed, except for the substrate.
Right now I have on a small HOB that I stole from my 29G. (empty)
