ok well then mabye another pike also can thay go into a planted tank or do thay like to rip up plants which is fine cause my other cichlids do anyway but he has a pic of the pike i was talking about on his website if you go to mikeskillerfish.com and under fish photos its on the second page its crenicichla manchata it looks like the one he was talking about

Pikes are the only large cichlid that I find dont destroy plants or dig them up. In fact they use them to their advantage when stalking and ambushing their prey. Plants also make great places to hide, and we know how much pikes love their hiding places. All but 1 of my 7 tanks is planted, and all have some sort of pike in them.Amd Im talking seriously planted tanks with correct lighting and c02 that you would usually see discus, angelfish, and tetras in.
excellent has anybody ever kept them with polys i think i might have my big cichlids in a different tank and get pike for my 120

It was probably a Cr. johanna. Red pike is the common name for these guys. I got two a few weeks ago under that same name.
