TELL ME SOME LARGE NON AGGRESSIVE FISH!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
in my 225 I have 3 tinfoils growing out, a giant 17" pleco, 4 bichirs around 8-10" a clown knife, and an extremely aggressive chocolate cichlid. I too was going for the giant monster community of peaceful fish. my pink Giant Gourami is really good. the chocolate chases him sometimes but my gourami is a male and he is very very peaceful. hes a very greedy feeder but he doesn't bother anyone. I had a super aggressive oscar in the tank that beat the **** out of the gourami and chocolate and he had to go. so don't believe when people say oscars are all peaceful cause its usually depends on the fish itself.

another good idea is Irwini catfish, I have one in my avatar, gets to around 28" and is a giant raphael catfish.

Every adult GG ive ever known was deffinately "aggressive" not my first pick for a gentle giant. like you said.. some are more docile then others.

Well every GG I've ever known has been a peaceful giant. they have a reputation for being aggressive when young, but mellowing out into peaceful giants as adults. sure there are some nasty ones, I have a particularly nasty chocolate cichlid, but my gourami is very placid. I could only imagine one becoming aggressive if it was housed alone for a significant amount of time and then had to compete with new tankmates.

When I added mine he was already 7" and the tank he was in at the LFS was a big 200g+ with about 20 other GG's, all of which were acting peaceful. The amount of LFS' I've been to throughout my life that have a big display tank with a peaceful GG and tankmates must be close to 10. So based on my experience they tend to be peaceful adults more than aggressive ones.

I wont be getting a GG cause, They are hard to find around me AND expensive... Also, my family doesnt like GG's Cause My Local Aquarium Has a few and they are HUGE!!! and the staff told my family they are aggressive and dont get them... I REALLY want to be able to enjoy this tank WITH my family so that we have a cool "Family" tank... So, NO GIANT GOURAMI...

I want a few cool big peaceful INTERACTIVE fish...
AND some cool kinda small fish mixed in...

A giant gourami can be aggressive I had a buddy who had one beat up black arrowana. But I've never had one so don't know. I always do severems. There not that mean and I always find big ones that people are getting rid of. U have a albino tin foil that's 11 inches he's a big harmless fish. Not the coolest but I like him.

Giraffe catfish and flagtail prochilodus would be good options. Both are non aggressive and get big.

Agree with 1bigdovi both are very cool fish and get large. Keep only one flagtail as they hate their own kind in captivity. The largest flagtail will destroy any other flagtails in the tank but will not bother any other fish.

Ok. May try Severums...

Anyone else?..

Uaru, severums
