Tell me what you think. Ray pup question...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i wouldn't say premature pup is the reason,i have seen premature pups in all sorts of deformed appearance ,also un premature pups, unfortunately every now and then your going to get the odd deformed pup, don't think there''s any more to it than that seeing as already had 3 healthy litter from the same parents, just a sad fact of life that sometimes young are born not the way they should be.

Most certainly early but for me there is more to it than just that, was the egg sac attached? I have had pups so premature that they were still white when they came out, the eyes were not inline with the spiracles though, they were set high up on the head in typical fashion, however it is normal for premature pups to have a rounded more blunt appearance to the mantle (front of head).

The egg sack was still attached. It was small, the size of maybe a sunflower seed just a little wider.
Ya, all the pups she has had in the past were normal looking and heads were like they were supose to be. I knew something wasnt right as soon as I saw he was born. Just hoped it was something to do with how he was in his mother. Kinda like some kids when they are born. Some come out with a dome shape head. But normals out after awhile. Was hoping it was just that.

thanks for the info guys. Always great to get info from others that know. Since nne of my rays have ever dlivered early, I had never seen this before. Now I have.. Even after years and years of raising rays and fish, still learn something new from time to time.
thanks again for the info..
