Hey guys, can some one explain and maybe post some pictures of how to tell apart PBB, laps and guinea laps? I had all 3 before and had no issues telling them apart, but I would like to know the best way to do so. the one in my avatar is a PBB. thanks for the help guys. Always appreciated it.

I'll invite you again, but come on guys, where are all the hardcore bichirs. I need to know. I know the the guinea lap and nigerian lap has stark differing markings, but pbb and nigierian lap. how do we tell them apart?
Hao did a thread on this topic. I would suggest searching for his thread. Here is a pic of PBB and lap. PBB on the left and lap on the right.
I looked everywhere but I could not find Hao's post on it.

After you keep them for awhile. You'll be able to tell the difference. It's difficult to tell you the difference by words. From my experience, PBB tend to have more monsterous looking headshapes. Their contrast/color/pattern tend to look better too. But that's not always the case.

Something else worth mentioning is that there are even differences between the same regional variants. For example you could have two guinea laps that look completely different.
