How do you tell the difference? My LFS has some small (1") fish labled as Texas Cichlid. They have longer gray bodies, with darker gray stripes and greenish spots. And their jaws kind of look like a small mouth bass' jaw. Any idea which one they are? They're $2.99 if that matters.

Thanks
Mike

id buy some and grown some out. its cheap and i personally wouldnt mind if it was either one

yeh i think thats too small to tell, none of the texas/Carpinits get much bigger than any other, do they???

I've read that Carpintis get about 8" and Cyanoguttatus get about a foot.

Nah, I can tell my carpintis will get to a foot and I've had cyonguttatus max at 10".

I wouldn't buy them, they're probably hybrids...
